Things you love about Chinese New Year sounds.

Image
Hi guys! Are you ready for my list of things you  love  about CNY music...and it's other sounds 1. Chinese New Year music playing everywhere! If you want to get into whats good for you this year, it's CNY music. For example! The other day, I was shopping and was about to try some tops and dresses on when it started playing - actually, let's not even use the word "playing" no one ever "plays" CNY music. They "blast" it! - started blasting. DONG DONG DONG CHIANG DONG DONG DONG CHIANG!!!! Almost immediately, I put my items back and walked out of the store. Had some indie, pop-ish or heaven forbid Christmas music been playing, I would've walked out of the store with more than a few things. So there you go,  CNY music. Helping you save money. Similarly, I was shopping the other day and honestly, I had a lot to do that day but I was procrastinating. Halfway into my shopping excursion, a group of performers started gong-ing around in the mall -...

Charcoal toast for an upset tummy.

Image
My tummy has been mood swinging for the past few days! It ranges from mildly annoying to can't - even - sit - straight in a matter of moments. Stupid food poisoning.  It all started a few days ago when I was over at the Jens (plural because there are 2 of them) for dinner. I spent the whole afternoon-night curled up on the Jens bed hating the sandwich I had eaten earlier for lunch.... hating with painful passion. It was a Subway. Stupid Subway. By the late night however, I was feeling a lot better and since I hadn't eaten, "I'll make you some toast..."  Jen said, "....it's good cos there's charcoal! Good for your stomach!" "Okay!" Who was I to argue right?  Kinda like how you drink vitamin-ed water because there's a tinge of vitamin in it. Or water with a lemon wedge in it because there's antioxidants...or something like that la. So anyway, charcoal in charcoal bread? Hmm..yea...makes sense to me..kinda. "Really? We got me...

The America Diaries | Episode 12 - The Santa Monica Pier.

Image
One of the things I wanted to do in LA was visit The Santa Monica Pier. In every movie/tv series/sitcom/cartoon set in LA, you'd always see the iconic Santa Monica Pier in a shot. Always. I'm sure you recognize it, While we were walking toward the pier Shaun said the most bizarre thing ever. "I just have to warn you it's pretty ghetto there" "But Shaun, it's in all the movies!" I argue. What was he saying? It's iconic! Maybe he's lived here too long. I've waited to see this for forever. I was ready to see the ferris wheel, maybe ride it, take pictures, run around excitedly and strut down the pier with an appropriate song playing (in my head), just like in the movies. Maybe the theme song of 90210 or something. We reached the pier... "Wait....I expected more from this place" ...and he was right. It was pretty shady, some parts were blocked off for renovation. There were machines along the pier, it looked really dirty and there we...

Ming Yue ♥'s Nyam Nyam

Image
So when we were in SS2 the other day, "You know what you want Ming Yue?? I think you want a Nyam Nyam!!! :D"  *nudges* "No trish..I don't think I do" He was clearly as excited as I. "C'mon Ming Yue! Let's go get a Nyam Nyam!" "Trish! It's so far away!" I really don't know why he was complaining.  It was only the middle of the afternoon and only moderately hot and sticky... and far. I don't remember the stick being so canggih but I swear  I had a Ratatouille moment. You know there are those annoying people, who sit in their car but not get out of the parking? That was us, because I wanted to finish eating my Nyam Nyam... ..I mean WE.  ....Ming Yue also. - There's an art to eating Nyam Nyam. An almost delicate,  classy,  poised  way. That takes a whole childhood to master. Liddis... Ming Yue hadn't mastered it. "Trish...this is not working out! I'm gonna use the tiger head!" and he flipped it around an...

What Mother Says - Facebook.

Since my mum got facebook, I've been seeing her in a whole new light. "Mum...stop checking your facebook so we can discuss what we're going to do tomorrow!" "Mum....do you really need to check facebook while you're walking" "No Mummm I don't want to take a picture next to that flower!" Really, did anyone ever see this happening?  But it's okay la, I guess parents wanna be "in" and "hip" too. Today however, was where I knew it was becoming serious. I was eating rambutans when a bug flew up from the bunch and landed in front of me. "OMG!! Is that a bug! It's furry!!" and I looked around for a tissue to KEEEL it! "That's a bug!???  *pauses*  Wait wait! WAIT! Don't kill it!" "WHY! IT'S SO GROSSS!!!" "I want to take a picture of it first" ".....are you serious?" *fumbles around bag for phone* At this point it started wiggling around and I was shuddering s...

The American Diaries | Episode 11 - Kayaking in Newport Beach

Image
"You know how people always say Californians are tanned, into organic food, soy, the beach and are always wearing slippers? That stereotype was born right here in New Port." It was a 2 hour paddle around the bay and swanky houses with yachts and private docks. The plan was to go for a hike but somehow, we ended up going kayaking and I'm glad we did... even if I was dressed in a tank and joggers. New Port was gorgeous. Everything about it was gorgeous.   So so gorgeous. "One day I'm gonna own a yacht, what are you gonna call yours?" I ask because I'm sure mine was better #kiasu "Probably something like...The White Wonder. You?" "The Hummer or maybe Mustang Sally" Told you guys *smug* "I'm gonna live in that house next time, maybe I'll be neighbours with Kobe"  because where else am I going to put my yacht right guys? I need a dock! The guys are hardcore Kobe Bryant fans and almost had a panic attack when the thought I...
