Things To Do In Jeju | Part 3: Udo island

Image
Udo is a quaint island that's a short ferry-ride away from Jeju.  Is it worth the trip? Yes. And here's why. #1 It's really pretty!  And I know I've said this like 20 times when I talk about Jeju - because it's true! I love looking at blue waters, especially in nice breezy weather. I could really stare at it all day :) It's not just the water or the sky. It's the nice contrast of rocks and this serenity that follows.  Having another K-drama moment. #2 It isn't as small as you might think! You would need a day here! Although it is an island and you'd probably just expect to see water, there are also different parts of the island which have different very different charms. Some parts are hilly, some parts are rocky, some parts are grassy and of course, there are beaches!   P.s. buses are available on the island, so it's convenient to get around! #3 Food! We had Hallasan fried rice!  Which is something you have to try. It's not just fried rice, ...

So, About Chicago #1 & #2

#1 It's winter now and it's really cold! D: The other day I was putting the lid on my takeaway coffee and mentally told myself okay, better make sure the lid is on tight or the coffee is gonna spill on you... ...but then again, at least I'll be warmer if the coffee spills on me. -16 celsius. Those are the kinds of thoughts you have. #2 The bus works in mysterious ways In KL I just drive to get around... like most people do. Here, public transport is so convenient I'm so glad I don't have to drive! But it took me awhile to figure out how the bus worked. Like which stop to stop at, where to go, what bus number to get on and finally and especially, how to get off the bus. Okay so like most busses, there are 2 doors  - the main door and the back door. There I was waiting to get out of the back door at my stop and it didn't open! And I watched with sad eyes as we drove past my stop. I had pulled the thing! The sign flashed "stop requested" why didn't th...

Things To Do In Jeju | Part 1.

Image
Continuing from my last post about Jeju, here's a list of things I did there. But before that, forgot to mention in the previous post that : Horse meat is a delicacy there and apparently everyone eats it! How do horses get on an island?? The horses are from Mongolia and were brought in by Gengis Khan. So that's exotic and stuff. Apparently Jeju, with it's lush flat lands and greenery, was the perfect place to breed horses. It was also strategic as the Mongols wanted to invade Japan at that time.  Okay anyway, #1  Aewol Coastal Road   This was the first destination when I arrived in Jeju. I was in awe! Such blue waters, such black rocks, such clear skies. What green screen is this? There are also transparent kayaks that you can take out.  The tiny dots are the rowers on the the transparent kayaks. What would make this better? Drinking coffee on a hill overlooking the blue water, black rocks and clear skies! There are several cafes along the coastal road and the view is...

Moving.

Hello from Chicago! It's a weird feeling that I'll be living here now. #1: I said goodbye to my friends in KL and while I was sad it also seemed like I was simply going on vacation #indenialmaybe. "You'll probably feel it when you reach Chicago" My flight took forever, so that was plenty of time to come to terms with leaving. It was  Malaysia > Singapore > Hong Kong > Chicago. Nothing. No feelings. I wasn't sad nor happy nor excited nor nervous, it was just like..yeh k. #2: When I landed I caught a cold/flu from travelling and I felt super crappy. The Chicago weather probably didn't help and I was wondering why I didn't move somewhere warmer. Also got a terrible stomach ache which followed with diarrhea. So y'know things could be better. Slept from 9pm to 4.30pm the next day and I feel less sick today! So hey, I've got that going for me. Apart from that, I'm currently in an airbnb till my place is ready on Saturday. The owners of t...

About Jeju Island, South Korea.

Image
I travelled to Jeju last month and the response I got most of the time was; "I've never heard of people going there! Is there anything to do?" And to answer this question, yessss there is and I really liked it! But before I go into specifics like where you should eat and what to do. Here are some things you may not know about Jeju: 1. Jeju is bigger than Seoul. So the common misconception is that Jeju is this tiny island away from Seoul. It's true it's an island but it isn't tiny! There's so much to do there! 2. It's the best place for nature lovers! There's fun outdoor things to do throughout the year from hanging out in the beaches during summer to skiing during the winter. The views are breath taking! And really the stuff of movies and uhm videos they play in the store to show you how clear their TV is. It's unreal. If you're looking to shop, while there are street shops and pockets of shopping areas, Seoul is probably a better choice. ...

GM Diet Day 4 | Chocolate Milk vs. Hot Chocolate

Image
Today we're only allowed bananas, milk and a special GM soup that contains veg and water. I had a brilliant thought! "Hey! if it says to drink milk means I can drink chocolate milk now right?" "I guess so" "Okay so if we see a Godiva I'm going to get an ice chocolate drink!" I say, smiling at my own genius. "Hahaha It's not the same" "WHY!? got milk inside also what!" #defensive #angry #deniesmeachocolate milk drink "No it's totally different. Chocolate milk is chocolate flavoured milk, Godiva chocolate drink is chocolate drink with SOME milk inside" "NOOOO it's the same! both also got chocolate inside and both also got milk inside what!" #defensive #angryatworld #wantgodiva #oranyformofsugar #anythingotherthanfruit YOU SEE! - It's been 4 days without meat or any form of carb. "I want sang har mee at Grandmamas"  *sulks and whines with hand on forehead and fans self* Bob on the oth...
