Itchy Mouth

I'm probably the worst snacker of all time ..or the best? I remember being at a friends place snacking on cookies and I dramatically say "TAKE THESE AWAY FROM MEEE! IT WILL NEVER END!" to which she responds,  "yes, she's serious, remember Chinese New Year?" Back up a couple of months to CNY, we were at a friends place and I was watching a game of MahJong,  my arm taking it's place inside the kuih kapit (chinese wafer...thing) container. I wasn't paying attention to anything but the game,  Next thing I know, I've reached the bottom of the container and the layers of kuih kapit have disappeared. I must have eaten at least 40. And this was after I've eaten half a dozen tiny mandarins  and munched down those fried crispy seaweed chips. Now to last week,  I was stressfully chomping on hot Cheetos (the best thing ever invented) I got the giant-est packet because the small packets are child's play. So I reach in to get my first Cheeto and the ba

Glamping in Caravan Serai

Image
The week before I left KL for Chicago, Naeust, Fresh and Anne (hereinafter referred to as Gfrans) surprised me with glamping! They told me to pack my stuff and kidnapped me for a weekend. I say surprised because I really was surprised! Anne: OMG YOU TOTALLY KNOW WHERE WE'RE GOING! Me: No, I really don't. Anne: OMG it's so obvious! Me: Where are we going? Anne: OMG YOU TOTALLY KNOWWW! So yeh, Anne was keeping her cool. GLAMPING = GLAM + CAMPING So we weren't really roughing it out. Heck, the tents had air cond with an en suite bathroom. It's glamping guys, it's Glamping. This was the entrance of the camping grounds.  We had our own tents on the other side of the river, but this was where we had breakfast. There's also a karaoke room on this end! We'd also brought some wine, but because we were camping (LOL!) we didn't have a fridge! So we decided hey, let's put it in the swimming pool to chill. Yea, everything's wrong with the above sentences.

So, About Life In Chicago

Image
So I know I usually give you guyses a glimpse of my ice kacang weather days, but lemme just give you an update about my life in Chicago so far. 1. What the hell am I doing here? I landed in O'hare after a 20-something hour flight and a transit in Hong Kong and Singapore and was greeted with snow and black ice. So there I was... wait, forgot to mention I also fell sick on the plane - I also fell sick on the plane. So there I was,  jet-lagged, sick, covered in snow, miserable. Wondering why I left my comfort of home to come to this place covered in snow, freezing, kinda dirty, had really bad weather, where I didn't know anyone. (Okay, I knew Cheryl - 1 person. Who lives 40 minutes away from me) "I could've gone to California,  BUT NOOOOOO I HAD TO COME HERE LIKE A STUPID!"  the little trixha in my head yelled at me, while pointing at the city covered in snow. 2. Grandmas Before I left I went to see my ama (grandma on dad's side); "If it gets too difficult,

So, About Chicago #4

I was walking home when I felt snow in my eyes, you know the usual. But then it wasn't. It was falling ALL over the place. Like ice from an ice kacang aunty's ice kacang machine.  "OWWW! What is thattt!" An ice kacang machine with an old blade that produced coarse unsatisfying ice kacang  the kind you had to crunch on. Y'knowwhatimsayin? "Ahhh. It's hurting my face!" "Oh, it's hailing"  said super nonchalantly. My first hail in Chicago, guys. It really did hurt. x

Things To Do In Jeju | Part 3: Udo island

Image
Udo is a quaint island that's a short ferry-ride away from Jeju.  Is it worth the trip? Yes. And here's why. #1 It's really pretty!  And I know I've said this like 20 times when I talk about Jeju - because it's true! I love looking at blue waters, especially in nice breezy weather. I could really stare at it all day :) It's not just the water or the sky. It's the nice contrast of rocks and this serenity that follows.  Having another K-drama moment. #2 It isn't as small as you might think! You would need a day here! Although it is an island and you'd probably just expect to see water, there are also different parts of the island which have different very different charms. Some parts are hilly, some parts are rocky, some parts are grassy and of course, there are beaches!   P.s. buses are available on the island, so it's convenient to get around! #3 Food! We had Hallasan fried rice!  Which is something you have to try. It's not just fried rice,
